In the US, the transportation sector is currently the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and various air pollutants, as over 90 percent of the fuel used is petroleum based. Shifting from fossil fueled vehicles to electric vehicles remove direct emissions, and utilize the clean, renewable energy that is available from the grid. SELCO’s clean, non-carbon power supply percentage is currently ~50%, with a target of 100% by 2032. SELCO recognizes it's important role in supporting the community's desired transition to more sustainable energy use and to mitigate climate change.
