October 28,2026 – Shrewsbury Electric & Cable Operations (SELCO) has once again been recognized by the American Public Power Association (APPA), earning the GOLD Public Power Customer Satisfaction Award for 2026. This marks the second time SELCO has received the award at the gold level, recognizing its continued commitment to providing excellent service to the Shrewsbury community.
The award is based on customer survey responses across eight categories: customer service, field personnel, communication, reliability, value, outage response, innovation, and overall satisfaction. SELCO received an average rating of more than 95% across all eight categories, reflecting the high level of satisfaction reported by its customer-owners.
“The public power business model fully aligns the citizens of Shrewsbury as both customers and owners,” said Christopher Roy, SELCO General Manager. “Recognition by the community in this fashion exemplifies success in providing exemplary service to our customer-owners. The SELCO team should be proud of everything they do!”
The APPA Public Power Customer Satisfaction Awards recognize utilities that demonstrate high levels of customer satisfaction, with awards presented at gold, silver, and bronze levels based on survey results. SELCO’s second gold-level recognition highlights the continued dedication of its employees and the trust of the community it serves.
As a community-owned municipal utility, SELCO provides electric service and telecommunications services to Shrewsbury residents and businesses. Its public power model allows the organization to focus on local needs, reinvest in essential infrastructure, and deliver services with the community’s interests at the forefront.
The American Public Power Association is the national trade organization representing not-for-profit, community-owned electric utilities. APPA represents approximately 2,000 public power utilities nationwide, serving more than 55 million people. The association advocates for public power at the federal level and provides resources, education, and guidance on electricity policy, technology, and utility operations.
