Electric Vehicle Rebate

The SELCO EV Rebate Program provides SELCO customers with an incentive for the purchase or lease of new and used battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). The rebates include a fixed/flat amount, plus an additional amount for income-qualified households. The rebate amounts are based on whether the vehicle is a BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) or PHEV (Pug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) and if it was purchased to own or leased. Applications are not considered complete without the following documents.

Necessary Documents

  • Vehicle sale receipt/contract/proof of purchase

  • Picture/photocopy of the driver’s license of the primary owner or lessee of the EV 

  • If pursuing Income Qualification Verification (at least one of the following)

    • The first two pages of the most recent federal IRS tax form 1040 (showing line 9) for each adult filing (single, married filing jointly, married filing separately, +/or head of household) within the household.  Area Median Income chart below

    • Proof of participation in any of the following government benefit programs within the previous 6 months: Fuel Assistance, WIC, TAFDC, EAEDC, SSP, SNAP, TANF, SSI, or Medicaid 

Terms and Conditions​

  • This rebate is only for SELCO households with active accounts, in good standing and residing primarily in Shrewsbury.
    If not in good standing, a payment can be made to become in good standing. The Payment History step will be put on hold for 6
    months. If the customer remains in good standing for that time, the step will be passed, if not, it will be failed and the customer
    is not eligible for a rebate.

  • One rebate per vehicle per licensed driver per lifetime.

  • Used vehicle purchases must be purchased from an unrelated seller from a different address.

  • Rebates may not exceed 50% of the sale price.

  • Lease terms must be at least 36 months.

  • The Selco rebate on a Level 2 charger is available with the purchase of any electric vehicle and must be enrolled in SELCO’s Connected Homes Program. This must be applied for separately through NextZero/MMWEC.

  • Customers must have internet service from SELCO.

  • New vehicle purchase price must not exceed $65,000 to qualify for rebate.

  • Used vehicle value must not exceed $55,000 Book Value to qualify for rebate.

  • 2024 rebate offer begins for purchases or leases January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024.

  • For customer-use vehicles only; not available for vehicles intended for resale.

  • This rebate may be considered taxable income by the federal or state government. Consult a tax professional for advice and to
    determine the tax consequences of this rebate.

  • Customers must apply for a rebate within 90 days of vehicle purchase/lease.

  • New Electric bikes (e-bikes) are eligible for a rebate. Must be pedal-assist and meet the definition of a “low-speed electric bicycle”
    under Federal law: 2-3 wheels, fully operable pedals, an electric motor of less than 750 watts.

  • Electric motorcycles are eligible for the All Electric Vehicle rebate schedule.

  • SELCO reserves the right to modify or end this offer at any time.
