Commercial Heat Pump

This rebate program is one of many efforts SELCO is taking to support decarbonization and sustainable energy use through electrification. This program provides commercial, general service (industrial) and municipal SELCO customers with an incentive for the installation of qualified heat pump equipment that displaces or prevents the use of conventional fossil fueled heating. Heat pumps are very efficient building heating and cooling systems that use much less energy than conventional HVAC. This efficient equipment combined with SELCO’s low rates results in substantial ongoing savings and reduced emissions.

How to Apply

SELCO Customers must apply for a rebate through our online portal:
https://shrewsburyma.viewpointcloud.com

Applications are not considered complete without providing the following documents:

Initial Submission for pre-approval

  • Quote of project from a licensed HVAC contractor
  • AHRI certificate(s)

After project installation

    • Proof of Cost of Installation: copies of all invoices (including all materials, labor, and equipment discounts) reflecting total project cost.
Terms and Conditions
  • Qualifying projects are eligible for $750/ton heating capacity of rebate funding, up to $20,000 per property. Due to a limited budget, only a handful of projects can be supported per year. First come, first serve. SELCO reserves the right to stop this program at any time without notice if the contributions may result in spending in excess of the annual budget for the program.
  • Tonnage is based on AHRI Certificate heating capacity. 12,000 BTU = 1 ton.
  • Eligible customers include existing customers that have delivered fuel heating such as oil and propane, electric heating, and new construction/development. Customers that have existing natural gas service from Eversource are eligible for Mass Save’s incentives, and are therefore ineligible for this SELCO program.
  • Pre-approval by SELCO is required before work begins. An estimated rebate amount will be calculated upon review of the application submission.
  • Final rebate amounts will be determined after the project is completed, inspected and verified by SELCO or a SELCO contracted third party.  The final cost of the installation will be verified by invoices for material, equipment and labor. SELCO may request further reasonable documentation.
  • All proposed equipment must meet or exceed the Mass Save Heat Pump qualified equipment efficiency requirements. https://www.masssave.com/heat-pump-qualified-list
  • Installed equipment must remain within SELCO service territory until the end of its useful life. Removal of the useful equipment is prohibited. The customer is responsible for maintaining and/or upgrading the equipment at the customer’s expense.
  • SELCO does not endorse, guarantee, or warrant any manufacturer, contractor or product. SELCO does not make any representations of any kind about equipment performance or safety.
  • SELCO’s review or a SELCO contracted third party review of the design and installation of the equipment is limited solely to confirming that program requirements are met, and is not safety or performance related.
  • SELCO reserves the right to make a reasonable number of follow-up visits to the Customer’s facility.
  • Unless the Customer objects in writing at the time of applying, SELCO may publicize any information that reasonably relates to the Customer’s participation.
  • After an application is pre-approved by SELCO, the Customer will receive a notification. Any work performed prior to the issuance of the SELCO’s pre-approval will be an unauthorized installation and SELCO will not provide rebate funding to cover the ineligible work performed.
  • SELCO acknowledges that the Customer may select any vendor or contractor. However, all materials that are to be used need to meet or exceed the minimum requirements of the equivalent Mass Save Commercial and Industrial program offering and need to carry relevant regulatory approvals (i.e.: UL, DLC, Energy Star, Mass Save Qualified Product List (QPL), AHRI).
  • Modifications to the project must be communicated to SELCO through the online application portal.
  • Applicable Building and Electrical permits must be obtained from the Building Dept.
  • These Terms and Conditions are subject to change by SELCO at any time and will apply to all projects/Customers from that point on.
